Grant Enfinger, driver of the No. 24 Champion Power Equipment Chevrolet Silverado, earned a 12th-place finish in Thursday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Buckle Up In Your Truck 225.
Enfinger rolled off the starting grid for the 150-lap event from the 17th-position. In the early stages of the race Enfinger reported to crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz that he was experiencing a tight-handling condition. When the first caution of the night occurred on lap 27, Enfinger came to pit road for right side tires and fuel, restarting the No. 24 Champion Power Equipment Chevrolet in the 18th position. Enfinger made his way up to the 11th position when a caution occurred on lap 47. Enfinger remained on track to keep his track position and on the restart, jumped to the eighth position. Shortly after, on lap 58, the fourth caution of the event occurred and Enfinger came to pit road for four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment, returning to the field in the 22nd position. The Fairhope, Ala., native battled his way back to the 15th position before the caution clock expired on lap 105. The Champion Power Equipment Chevrolet restarted from the 13th position after coming down pit road for one final stop for right side tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment to help loosen the tight conditions. A long green-flag run occurred to end the 225-mile event. Enfinger crossed the start-finish line in the No. 24 Champion Power Equipment Chevrolet to collect a 12th-place finish.
GRANT ENFINGER QUOTE:
“A top-15 result in my third start with GMS Racing is a pretty decent night for myself and the No. 24 team. I was fighting a tight truck the whole night and it continued to get worse the harder I drove. I am just so grateful for this opportunity and I can’t thank everyone enough for all of their hard work and determination this week. Chicagoland (Speedway) is my next scheduled race, and I can’t wait to be back behind the wheel of one of these fast Chevrolets again. Thank you to Champion Power Equipment and GMS Racing for making all of this possible.”
NEXT RACE:
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will return to action on Wednesday, July 20 at Eldora Speedway. Enfinger’s next scheduled race is Friday, September 16 at Chicagoland Speedway.
